Kerry's Veep Pick

So Kerry picks Edwards, and we have an all-John Democratic ticket.

While I've got to concede that the dude is pretty, an eloquent public speaker, and of potentially great appeal to rural and middle-American voters looking for a Bush replacement, serious second thought reveals that the ticket may not be able to sustain the great image it now presents.

Kerry clearly made his pick on the basis of who would help him win the election, not necessarily on the 'fitness to govern' criteria - not that there's anything wrong with that. But a lot can change in 118 days (heck, only 60 days ago I was pretty sure nothing could derail a Bush victory).

With the economy headed for its best growth in 20 years (potentially taking the topic off the table as a target for Dem attack), what happens if the incumbent unleashes one of his formidable 'secret weapons' in the runup to the election (bin Laden capture, anyone ?). What does Kerry's choice look like then ?

We'll have to wait and see......
