Mortgage broker
- As a subprime mortgage broker, used knowledge of xxx lenders to obtain mortgages for clients with damaged credit or other financial problems


Presales Integration Engineer

- Used Perl and shell scripts to integrate Algorithmics components, (RiskWatch calculator, xxx libraries, xxx) for proof-of-concept demonstrations
- Installed and managed demo environments on Linux and Solaris, running both Oracle 9/10 and Sybase.

- Worked closely with the head of sales and the CTO to effectively present the eMeta solution and value proposition to target divisions of several Fortune 500 companies (most of whom are now full-fledged eMeta customers)
- Helped extract problem statements and responses; replied to RFPs

Lead Programmer/Sales Engineer
HBE Software
Montreal, Canada
- Led a small team to build an object persistence framework (using Perl, Linux, mySQL) as the foundation of an web publishing product
- Built an online storefront for an online retailer. Designed and built back-end (mySQL) persistence layer and lightweight application server functionality
- Subsequent to an acute company funding crisis and as a result of being asked to step into a sales role on an emergency basis, helped secure a $100k contract which kept the company afloat


Senior Programmer (contract)
Gemplus Canada
- Working with a graphic designer, designed and built a web console to manage remote GSM switches which controlled cellphone SIM cards


Technical Consultant
Corporate Software and Technologies (now part of Oracle Canada)
- evangelized among the other technical consultants for the adoption of Perl as our Swiss Army tool language. Built a web-based server management console as proof-of-concept


Nortel Networks
Intern
- owned PartMan, a tool to manage partitions on Nortel switches. Compiled by various authors over the course of two years, PartMan had evolved into a 50,000+-line spaghetti bowl of korn, csh and command-line scripts.
- on my own initiative, gained Nortel's blessing to represent it at the first annual FIPA meeting (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents). Participated in architecture working groups which laid the foundation for today's FIPA standards

Created user documentation for one of Matrox's digital imaging products
