Culling from options trading ideas of years past - profitable on paper but never put into practice - it's time to begin tracking my picks here and gauging their performance.

• Going long XLK (Technology Select SPDR) while shorting XLE (Energy Select SPDR). Using options. Over the next 30 to 60 days. Rationale: technology and other non-energy dependent sectors typically perform well in the immediate aftermath of an oil shock, which we're experiencing now.
