The Last Great Book I've Read
Last week I was taken by surprise by Alfred Bester's Hugo-Award-winning novel: The Demolished Man. It was so engrossing that it could scarcely leave my grip until every page had been turned.
What an excellent meditation on the boundaries between the real and the imagined, and the effects of the one on the other.
I recommend.
Right now I'm onto Jack Heller's Picture This: A Novel. I never did read his Catch-22, but after wading through the dense initial prose of this current novel and beginning to feast on the treacly nuggets of goodness just beyond, I'm thinking I may take a future look at that tome.
