Mesopotamia

Wow. Really interesting day today. In researching the novel I'm writing, read a whole bunch on ancient Sumer and Sumerian culture, Mesopotamia, and the connection between these cultures, ancient Egypt, and Mesoamerican culture (the Aztec, Inca, and Maya). Turns out there is quite a connection: lots of shared technology (in smelting of metal, weaving of cotton, even the strains of cotton) and shared lore and religious rites (eerily similar creation myths and god-groupings with the serpent playing a prominent role).
