The Iran-al Queda Connection

Previous (and to be sure, upcoming) claims of Iranian links to al-Queda seem to lead naturally to Democratic cries of "We fought the Wrong War !".

Such a sentiment totally ignores practical politics. Bush's Axis of Evil included three - count'em, three - nations, and one of 'em was Iran.

Iran, however, was not, and arguably still is not, as good a target for invasion (from an operational standpoint) as was Iraq. Furthermore, setting Iraq straight - if accomplished - has the potential for huge influence on Iran, at much less cost than direct military conflict would have incurred.

I hope the Republicans pick up on this point in their rebuttals over the coming week.
